The Entangled Team

Liz Pelletier, Chief Executive Officer and Publisher
Coming out of the dot com era, serial entrepreneur Liz Pelletier has more than thirty years of experience in software engineering, systems analysis, and business management. In 2011, Liz channeled her love of romantic fiction and co-founded Entangled Publishing. Her mission statement was simple: offer authors the highest royalties in the industry, combined with an agile publishing program, intense focus on quality, and market-driven analysis, in an effort to bridge the gap between traditional and self-publishing opportunities. Over the past five years, Entangled has gone from a small start-up to a powerhouse romance publisher, with more than 1200 titles released to date. Liz lives in Colorado, is launching her twins into college this year, and has an unwavering love of Game of Thrones.

Peter DeGiglio, Chief Financial Officer
Peter DeGiglio is President of St. Lawrence Publishing Consultants, and has over 30 years of publishing experience, having held a number of executive positions throughout the industry. With Random House for over 20 years, he was V.P. of Business Operations for the Random House Publishing Group (“Little Random”), and V.P., Publisher of Princeton Review Books. At Macmillan he held the position of V.P. Finance and Accounting before moving to Bloomsbury Publishing where he was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Peter sits on the Finance & Audit committees for The Library of America, and for Poets and Writers. He has lectured at both the NYU and Columbia summer publishing programs. Peter obtained his B.B.A. in Finance & Economics from Wichita State University, and holds an M.B.A. from the Hagan School of Business at Iona College.

Melanie Smith, Finance Director and Managing Editor
Melanie Smith, co-founder of Entangled Publishing, brings fifteen years of experience in the corporate world to her role as Financial Director. A Program Manager with Hewlett Packard, Melanie holds a MS in mathematics, a MA in education, and is an MBA candidate. With her PMP Certification and ten years experience managing million-dollar revenue-generating software projects, she is uniquely qualified to leverage her skillset across the complex landscape of copyright and royalty management as well as using her intensive project management background to ensure all of our books go to market with success.

Stacy C. Abrams, Editorial Director of Entangled Teen and Teen Crush/Crave
Stacy Abrams started in the publishing industry in 2002, most recently leaving a seven-year stint at Bloomsbury Publishing’s children’s division to join the Entangled team. Stacy has edited such award-winning and high-caliber YA authors as Jessica Warman, Tracy Deebs, Alex Scarrow, and Michelle Rowen, among many others, and her books have earned starred reviews from all the major review journals. In addition to editing, she has been a freelance copy editor for several major New York publishing houses. She earned her Bachelor’s in English at Northwestern University. Find her on Twitter at @StacyAbramsEdit.

Heather Howland, Editorial Director of Lovestruck
After years of editing in the legal, industrial, and technical sectors, Heather Howland packed up her desk and dove into her true passion: romance. With Entangled, she’s helped launch the careers of many NYT and USA TODAY bestsellers, hitting both lists several times over. She holds a BS in creative writing and psychology and channels that knowledge into her love of dark, twisty, sexy romantic fiction. Married to her very own romance hero (a firefighter, rawr!), Heather’s now outnumbered by her pack of Howland males, and their dogs Oden and Finnick. Find her on Twitter at @HeatherHowland.

Candace Havens, Executive Editor and Editorial Director of Embrace and Amara
Bestselling author Candace Havens has written multiple novels for Berkley, Entangled and Harlequin. Her books have received nominations for the RITA’s, Holt Medallion and Write Touch Reader Awards. She is the author of the biography Joss Whedon: The Genius Behind Buffy and a contributor to several anthologies. She is also one of the nation’s leading entertainment journalists and has interviewed countless celebrities including Tom Hanks, Nicolas Cage, Tom Cruise, George Clooney and many more. Her entertainment columns can be read in more than 600 newspapers across the country.  Candace also runs a free online writing workshop for more than 2200 writers, and teaches comprehensive writing class. She does film reviews with the Hawkeye & Dorsey on 96.3, and is a former President of the Television Critics Association.

Heather Riccio, Assistant to the Publisher
Heather has worked with Entangled since December 2011, utilizing her strong background in marketing and publicity to work her way up to assistant to publisher. Her Masters degree is in Fiction Writing and her undergraduate degree is a double degree in English and Anthropology from University of California, Riverside. She also works for Bowker part-time as a market researcher, which keeps her up-to-date on book trends. On the side, Heather can also be found doing pro-bono work as the Director of Partnerships for Project Migration, a fashion accessories company with a charitable initiative, and  as the Features Editor for Urbanette magazine. Her life-long goal is to work for Entangled and write at night! Find her on Twitter @HeatherRiccio.

Katie Clapsadl, Rights and Royalties Associate
Katie can't remember a time where reading wasn't a central part of her life and you'll never find her without a book in her hand. Dipping her toes into the publishing industry in 2010 by reviewing for several sites including RT Book Reviews Magazine, she found a way to slowly turn her passion into a career. After earning a degree in Business Studies in 2011, eventually her love of the written word led her to Entangled in 2012. A self-admitted organizational freak, she has played many roles with the company over the years starting with Publicity and shines in her current roles in Finance and Subsidiary rights. Katie lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two children. Find her on twitter @Kt_Clapsadl.

Editorial Directors and Editing Team

Alethea Spiridon, Editorial Director of Scandalous
Alethea Spiridon was an editor for Harlequin Books in Toronto for almost seven years, working with writers such as Bobby Hutchinson, Roberta Gellis, Lori Foster, Cathy Yardley, Lori Wilde, Jill Shalvis, Anne Stuart, and Pamela Morsi to name a few. She worked on anthologies, continuities, special projects, and some series. She enjoys a fresh, fun, flirty voice, and anything that can make her laugh and see the lighter side of life. That being said, she’s also drawn to contemporary alpha male stories and lush historical romances. Jane Porter, Sherryl Woods, Rachel Gibson, Carole Matthews, Julie James, Sheila O’Flanagan, and Sarah Mayberry are some authors she enjoys reading. Before joining Entangled, Alethea was a freelance editor and writer, and has edited everything from historical to paranormal romance, non-fiction titles, plays, and even some poetry. Find her on Twitter at @aletheaspiridon.

Alycia Tornetta, Editorial Director of Bliss
Alycia Tornetta works with popular authors such as NYT bestseller Lauren Blakely, USA Today bestsellers Karen Erickson and Cindi Madsen, and bestselling authors Rachel Harris, Hope Tarr, and many more. Alycia loves quirky, independent heroines and smart, sexy heroes. She also has a weakness for cute, nerdy guys with great hair and bad boys with even better hair. Alycia currently lives in a small town where, in the land of trucks, her Mini Cooper is the smallest car around. You can follow her on Twitter at @weechagirl. Alycia loves all kinds of books, especially ones that combine genres in a unique and clever way. For YA, she’s a huge fan of contemporary, sci-fi, mysteries, and thrillers. If it’s fast-paced and makes her heart race, she wants to read it. Light contemporary romances that make her swoon are great, too. For adult, she loves fun voices, strong tropes, and lots of sexual tension. She’d kill for more LGBT stories for YA, NA, and adult romance.

Brenda Chin, Editorial Director of Brazen
Award-winning editor Brenda Chin has been involved in the romance industry for more than 28 years. Throughout her many years with Harlequin, she worked with some of the best writers in the business, including such notables as Brenda Jackson, Jill Shalvis, Vicki Lewis Thompson and Betina Krahn. During those years, Brenda also bought 74 new authors–Carly Phillips, Stephanie Bond, Julie Kenner and Leslie Kelly, to name but a few. Many of the authors introduced to Harlequin have gone on to hit the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists. Brenda is always up for adventure. Whether it’s kayaking all over North America (beautiful Haida Gwaii is her favorite place on earth), or horseback riding in the Rockies, Brenda loves pushing the boundaries. And that’s exactly what she’ hoping to do in her new role as the Editorial Director of the Brazen and new, exciting Scorched series.   With the changing nature and unlimited possibilities in today’s market, Brenda can hardly wait!

Heidi Shoham, Editorial Director of Indulgence and August
Heidi started working as an editor in the summer of 2007. Her BA in English Language and Literature certainly helps, but it’s been working with wonderfully talented authors and other editors that has taught her the most. She spent almost nine years at Samhain Publishing as an acquisitions and content editor, and two years at Kensington Lyrical as a developmental editor. She also edits for many NYT and USA Today bestselling authors who self-publish. When she’s not working on edits, she’s running after her three lovely wildlings, cleaning up after the world’s most energetic dog, and serving Buffy, her snooty cat. She spends way too much time online—for research purposes, of course—and can be found on Twitter as @heidishoham and on Facebook as Heidi Shoham, where she rambles, and rants, and genuinely tries to make sense (although it might not always show).

Tera Cuskaden, Editorial Director of Scorched
Tera Cuskaden started working in publishing in 2005 as a reviewer and proofreader. She began working at Samhain Publishing in 2007 as an acquiring content editor and was promoted to Senior Editor of the Romance and Horror lines, also serving as the Art Department Coordinator. She has worked with many New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling authors, including Megan Hart, Shelli Stevens, Dana Marie Bell, and Cathryn Fox. Tera was also the first editor to hit the New York Times bestsellers list with a digital-only title.

Erin Molta, Editor
Erin Molta has been working in publishing for more than two decades. Editing novelty books, children’s books, YA, and now focuses on historical romance. She loves epic Viking romance, stories set in the Scottish Highlands, with the rugged chieftains holding their own against the hardy Scottish lasses hell-bent on stealing their hearts, medieval lords and ladies in the Great Halls of Scotland and England, and of course, Regency, where it’s all about le bon ton and where one’s worth is dictated by one’s title—unless it’s not. Sassy heroines, alpha-male heroes (with tender hearts), and witty banter are a plus because those qualities are timeless.

Karen Grove, Editor
Karen Grove has been an editor for 28 years, working with authors at Harcourt and then Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, concentrating in young adult fiction. She has worked with such prestigious authors as Han Nolan, Carol Plum-Ucci, L. A. Meyer, Ann Rinaldi, Adele Geras, Kathryn Reiss, Gary Paulsen, and New York Times bestselling author Susan Beth Pfeffer. The majority of her books have earned starred reviews from major review journals and such prestigious awards as the National Book Award, Michael L. Printz Honor, multiple Edgar Allen Poe Awards (Mystery Writers of America), and a RITA Award (Romance Writers of America). In addition to her editing, she owned and operated a local business newspaper for 10 years. She resides in Southern California with her husband and college-age son. Karen looks for stories with quirky characters, compelling voices (even snarky ones, if there’s heart behind it), and settings that are so strong they become characters themselves. She adores small-town and Southern novels, with their strong sense of community and personal relationships, as well as stories with deeply flawed characters that she can both love and hate. No matter what the age group or genre, Karen wants a story to move her—to make her laugh, cry, tense in fear, or cause her to think in some way she hasn’t considered before.

Kate Brauning, Editor
Kate Brauning acquires YA, NA, and adult fiction across Entangled’s imprints. She’s especially interested in funny/charming or dark and edgy YA, and high-concept stories with literary writing, regardless of genre. She’d be thrilled to see antiheroes and antiheroines, LGBTQIAP major characters (particularly romances with an HEA), and religious, economic, cultural, and ethnic diversity. In adult and NA, she’s looking for romance and romance-driven women’s fiction across the genres. If you have something similar to Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter, A Discovery of Witches, or the TV shows The Killing, Friday Night Lights, or Battlestar Galactica, all with a significant romance, she’s interested. If you have a comp for Claire Underwood, Cannie Shapiro, Lisbeth Salander, Leslie Knope, Joan Holloway, Lady Mary Crawley, Daryl Dixon, Detective Stephen Holder, Tim Riggins, or Jesse Pinkman, she’s interested. She’s also looking for women’s fiction that includes romance, and hilarious, clever submissions for the Lovestruck and Bliss imprints. Agents and established authors may submit directly to [email protected].

Lydia Sharp, Editor
Lydia Sharp is a YA novelist, short fiction author, and former blogger. She has been a regular contributor to various publishing industry sites, including the award-winning Writer Unboxed. Her favorite stories have a brisk pace, crackling chemistry, witty banter, romantic moments that make you melt, a high stakes plot, characters that jump off the page, and a dramatic ending. She is especially interested in stories that utilize different cultures and unique settings. Follow on Twitter @lydia_sharp for regular updates on her manuscript wish list. Lydia is actively seeking young adult projects in the following genres: contemporary (any kind), fantasy (most sub-genres), sci-fi (any kind), historical fantasy, and fairytale retellings or re-imaginings. She is also interested in new adult (contemporary or sci-fi); adult contemporary romance; adult historical romance; and womens fiction with a strong romantic element. She is not the right editor for paranormal, angels/demons, or ghost stories.

Marie Loggia-Kee, Editor
Marie Loggia-Kee’s work can be found in more than 150 magazines and seven anthologies. She has a strong background in journalism, a master’s degree in communications, and a master’s degree in English. In addition to publishing romantic fiction under a penname, she edits and writes for a variety of venues, and teaches college classes in journalism, English, film studies and popular culture. Marie would like to see contemporary, sensual small-town settings, along the lines of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River or Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold. She would also like to see submissions with culture and sass similar to Alisa Valdes-Rodriquez and Mary Castillo. Within the paranormal realm, Marie is craving a strong female protagonist who’s fighting the bad guys rather than simply jumping into bed with one of them, who has a love interest that’s not the vampire she’s supposedly hunting. She’s open to F/M, F/F, and M/M pairings in all heat levels, though erotic elements must be secondary to the plot.

Nina Bruhns, Editor

New York Times and USA Today Best Selling author Nina Bruhns has published nearly 40 award-winning romance and thriller novels, and has studied screenwriting with a host of Hollywood writers and directors, as well as privately with such screenwriting stars as Blake Snyder, Michael Hauge, and David Freeman. As a result, Nina brings unique insight and expertise to her work as a senior editor for Entangled. For submissions, Nina is especially open to short, hot stories for Scorched, Brazen, Scandalous, and Ignite, but will consider other lines. Mainly, she looks for stellar writing, awesome characters, and a compelling story.

Robin Haseltine, Editor
Although Robin Haseltine has had several incarnations—everything from money market broker, to teacher, to AOL screen programmer—one of the highlights of her life was when Liz Pelletier offered her an internship shortly after Entangled Publishing opened their doors in 2011. Since that time, Robin has had the opportunity to team with Liz on RITA nominees (Historical and Contemporary) and NY Times Bestsellers (YA and Contemporary). She works with amazing authors across every Entangled imprint and has seen many reach the top of Amazon and Nook charts, receive rave reviews on Kirkus, Romantic Times, and Fresh Fiction, and hit the USA Today Bestseller list. A true squee-worthy moment came when two of her authors received Galaxy Awards (SF), one of whom was also nominated for the prestigious Ditmar Award.

Aside from cuddling the grandkids and hanging with the parrots, there’s little she loves more than seeing an author hold their book in their hands. And, yes, she’s been known to cry when telling a debut author Entangled is acquiring their book..

Stephen P. Morgan, Editor
Before joining Entangled, Stephen worked in various facets of the publishing, magazine, and communications industries as a writer, editor, and interview coordinator. His Master’s thesis, BOOK DNA, involved a content analysis of what elements contribute to commercially and critically successful genre fiction. You can reach him at Stephen (at) entangledpublishing.com. Follow him on Twitter at @Stephen_Edits, where he occasionally posts pictures of his three tiny brown dogs. Stephen is looking for fun and snarky contemporary romances driven by strong romance tropes. Bring on the alpha hero hiding a heart of gold, and please pit that alpha hero against the one woman willing to call him on his BS. Mild to high heat level preferred, with love scenes fully realized on the page. Favorite tropes include Enemies to Lovers, Fake Engagement, Marriage of Convenience, Mistaken Identity, Older Brother’s Best Friend/Best Friend’s Little Sister (or some variation), Ugly Duckling, and Intimate Strangers.

Theresa Cole, Editor
A self-proclaimed book and coffee addict, Theresa has been devouring words most of her life. She’s worked with numerous publishers and authors, some of whom went on to become NYT and USA Today bestsellers. Paranormal romance will always be her first true love, but any story that makes her laugh, cry, or both is a sure win, especially if sexy cowboys are involved. She likes her contemporaries with a dash of humor, her paranormal romances with tortured heroes, and she’s a sucker for the older brother’s best friend. Theresa resides in the beautiful state of Michigan with her husband, sons, and one cat who thinks he owns them all. When she’s not editing, writing, or reading, she can usually be found at her son’s sporting events or daydreaming about living somewhere warmer. Contact her at Theresa AT entangled publishing DOT com and check out her Twitter for her current #mswl.

Tracy Montoya, Editor
Tracy Montoya is the award-winning author of several romantic suspense novels for both Harlequin and Kensington. She’s given acclaimed hour-long, day-long, and week-long workshops across the country on finding “a method for plotting madness”; using “deep point of view” to create characters that pop off the page; and more. Tracy is also a longtime magazine editor and writer who has written hundreds of articles for national publications. Tracy is seeking category-length romantic fiction of all kinds—anything from sweet to sexy, as long as it’s character-driven, emotional, and fast-paced. Her personal favorites usually have a strong conflict and an exceptionally strong heroine—think Buffy Summers (with or without the slayer powers) not Bella Swan. That said, anything goes as long as it contributes to her insomnia problem and keeps her reading through the night. She’d love to hear from more authors of color.

Wendy Chen, Editor
Wendy Chen first started editing romances at a large NYC publishing house in the late 1990’s. She then got her MBA in Marketing and Finance from New York University, and has been working on the business side of a major newspaper. While writing her own novels, she found she missed the world of editing and is thrilled to be with Entangled. While she is still a New Yorker at heart, she now lives in Northern Virginia. She loves contemporaries and historicals, with strong and sassy heroines, and smart and sexy heroes. Favorite tropes include Relationships of Convenience, Friends to Lovers, Enemies to Lovers, Second Chance at Love, but she’ll fall for anything with a great voice that makes her laugh and cry. Find her on Twitter @wendychenbooks.

Production Team

Curtis SvelhakCurtis Svelhak, Senior Production Editor
Curtis has loved books all his life, usually ones without all the mushy stuff. He’s also a big fan of television and film. In a previous life, he built websites and was a production coordinator before joining Entangled as a Production Editor in September 2013. He’s worked on almost every imprint and is known as the author whisperer.

Crystal HavensCrystal Havens, Production Editor
Crystal has been fascinated with books ever since she saw the Beast gift Belle with her own library. She also has a love for makeup, fashion, movies, and anything Games of Thrones. Shel Silverstein, R.L. Stein and John Grisham introduced her to the world of reading. She started at Entangled in 2014 where she is the Production Editor for various imprints. Crystal feels she’s found her happy place at Entangled where she's surrounded by books. She lives in Texas with her strong bearded hero, 4 children and 2 dogs.

Christine ChunnChristine Chunn, Production Editor
Christine’s love of books started later in her life but she’s made up for it with gusto and some might call her passion for books an addiction. And they’d be right. Christine started her journey with Entangled several years ago as an Editorial Assistant and has loved every minute of it. Born and raised in Scotland, she now lives in Ohio with her two kids. You can find her online at @ChrissyAWriting

Adia WrightAdia Wright, Contracts Manager
Adia Wright joined Entangled in July 2015, and brings over 15 years of contracts experience to the company. She has worked for major book publishers as well as for a boutique literary agency, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of deals. Her experience on both sides of the business has made her a valuable member of the team, and she loves working with Entangled authors! The only thing she loves more is her husband, son, and three French Bulldogs

Brittany Marczek, Formatting Specialist

Marketing and Publicity Team

Jessica Turner, Marketing Director
Jessica had no idea how much assuming the moniker “The Spinecracker” would completely change her life. In 2010 while working as the marketing assistant and social media director for a real estate firm in San Diego, she began reviewing books on her personal book blog. Always the chatterbox, she quickly befriended authors, publishers, and fellow reviewers. She had the opportunity to become a freelance writer for HeroesandHeartbreakers.com and later the Huffington Post. But her dream was to always find a way in to the magical word of publishing. Jessica was hired by Entangled Publishing in July 2012 as a publicist. She has since moved into a Publicity Director role and has resigned from her other job, as she’s found her dream job once and for all. She can be found on twitter @TheSpinecracker.

Debbie Suzuki, Publicist for Bliss

She earned a degree in Operations Management and Information Systems and then went on to get her Master of Library and Information Sciences degree. Find her on Twitter @debworldofbooks.

Melissa MontovaniMelissa Montovani, Publicist for TEEN, Crush and Crave

In 2010, she started the blog YA Book Shelf to promote teen fiction. For the past four years, she’s written reviews for Canadian Children’s Book News, while also working as the marketing director for an organic food company. Her public relations and publicity background includes work in audiobook publishing, film and television production, and not-for-profit organizations. Bridge O'TooleBridget O’Toole, Publicist for Lovestruck and Amara
Bridget has been in a committed relationship with romance books from the moment her sister forcefully shoved one into her hand. (Don’t worry, no books were harmed during this exchange.) She pursued her passion for the written word as an Editing, Writing, and Media major at Florida State University and continued her education at New York University, earning a certificate in publishing. In the fall of 2015, Bridget jumped on board as a publicity intern at Entangled Publishing, and she is currently out of her mind with bliss at having moved into an assistant publicist position. She lives in Florida with an adorable dog, a possessed parrot, surplus amounts of coffee, and endless HEAs. Find her on Twitter @bridgetttotoole.

When you need to swoon over your favorite ships & fictional boyfriends, or debate your favorite teams, find her on Twitter at @entangledpub and @entangledteen. When she’s not busy falling for her next book boyfriend, she’s binging her TV favorite shows, drinking too much coffee, and dreaming of that fluffy white stuff called snow.
