Elena O’Rourke packs a gun and an attitude. The gun, because she’s a cop. The attitude? Let’s just say her love life has been sorely lacking. But she’ll be damned if apartment manager Bo Strongwell is going to be the guy to turn that around, despite his Viking warrior vibe, cannonball muscles, and black satin voice—because Bo’s the biggest suspect in her murder investigation.
Master vampire Bo Strongwell needs a cop snooping around like he needs a garlic body wash. Fighting rogue vampires keeps him busy enough without Elena suspecting him of murder—even if she smells and tastes like his deepest desires.

"LOVED this book!! It is sexy, hot and laugh-out-loud funny. This book is an amazing blend of rom-com + paranormal + whodunit. " --Gladys, Goodreads
This reminded me of Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones, only more of slapstick humor variety. This book takes populr paranormal tropes and thoroughly takes the piss out of them. It's dirty, hot and really, really funny! It's a great mix of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, and a heroine wh ...more

Well, just to start off, I asked Didi to give me something light and “fluffy” to review since I have been doing some strong, serious books lately. Well, she delivered! The “Biting” series is funny, sassy, sexy and oh-so-much fun!

Whilst this book is 1st in series, it is actually the 2nd bk written. This is the world of Meiers Corners, a satellite city of Chicago, with the good vamps protecting the unsupecting humans from the coterie of Chicago bad vamps. (think vamp mafia)

I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Wasn't expecting to as I'm not a fan of first person perspectives, but this one did it right by only focusing on the female protagonists viewpoint. Her narration is entertaining, with lots of funny little comments that make you laugh out loud.

Bite My Fire by Mary Hughes is book #1 in the Biting Love Series. I LOVED this book!! It is sexy, hot and laugh-out-loud funny. This book is an amazing blend of rom-com + paranormal + whodunit. Since this was a Mary Hughes book I knew there would be great world building and fantastic character development of both the leads and secondary characters. What I didn’t expect was for it to be so quirky! Elena’s inner monologue is filled with irreverant sarcasm and insecurities. In short, it’s hil ...more
Watch out for the bite.

A completely implausible set of characters and setting, but so damned funny that its somehow ok. Its so stupid, its clever.

This is the 2nd book in the Biting Love series, although I read Biting Nixie first before I knew it was a series. Elena is a by-the-book detective in the small town of Meirs Corner. I think this is my favorite book out of the series. Elena is refreshing. She seems real. Her desire to protect is compelling and her sarcasm and wit was appealing to me. As a detective its her job to protect but its also part of who she is. Elena would do just about anything to solve her murder case ...more
I really enjoyed this funny, sometimes silly, sexy vampire romance. Elena O'Rourke is a junior detective on a small-town police force who's given a murder case to solve "quickly." The victim died with holes in his private area, so Elena dubs it "The Case of the Punctured Prick." While trying to solv ...more
A couple years ago I read The Bite of Silence which I would find out is actually the third book in the series. I'm finally getting around to starting at the beginning of the series. I read book 2 in this series before book one, and while reading them out of order is no problem because Hughes does a fantastic job of setting up her world of Meiers Corners and the denizens thereof, I liked the character of Nixie in book 2 just a bit more than Elena in book 2. Nonetheless, Elena is ...more
