CIMRWA Author Incubator Program

Ends on October 10, 2019

For readers who deserve to see themselves represented on the pages and the front cover of their favorite books, and to elevate authors from historically marginalized communities, it’s necessary to proactively increase diversity within the community of romance authors.

Therefore, Entangled Publishing is excited to announce we’re partnering with the Cultural, Interracial, Multicultural Special Interest Chapter of Romance Writers of America (CIMRWA) to offer a special new program for unpublished or mid-list authors—The CIMRWA Author Incubator program. This initiative is designed to increase access and opportunity for authors of historically underrepresented populations by showcasing strong voices and stories rich in diversity.

Through the incubator, five talented, diverse writers will be selected to work directly with publisher Liz Pelletier on conceiving, developing, and publishing new romance novels. Each of the writers will also be teamed up with a bestselling author who will mentor them during their writing and publishing journey.

CIMRWA members who are either unpublished or have sold less than 10,000 copies per title will submit one chapter (up to 15 pages) of anything they’ve written and answer a brief questionnaire about what genres they love to write in, their favorite books, etc. Entangled will go through the blind submissions and choose five of their favorite voices with whom to collaborate, develop a salable project, and ultimately publish those books. One of the selected authors will receive a guaranteed mass market paperback contract for their book. The remaining four writers, upon completion of their books, will be offered digital-first contracts, though there may be print opportunities as well.

This program is open exclusively to CIMRWA members who are unpublished or have sold less than 10,000 units per title. Not a member of this organization? Join today!

Submissions will open at midnight on September 9 and close at 11:59 p.m. on October 10. The five authors invited to participate in the program will be announced by CIMRWA on October 30 at 5 p.m. (EST) on the association’s blog.
