Captain Qaelan Forster is used to trouble. He lives on the wrong side of the law and he’s on the most-wanted lists. He’s mixed up in his cousin's mess who has problems on a cosmic level—like shape-shifting aliens who want them dead. But Qaelan’s not prepared for the cheeky kind of trouble called Camille Blackstone, whose infamous father has any man interested in his daughter executed.

After Camille drags Qaelan into an impulsive act of rebellion, she finds herself trying to defend the sexy captain from her overprotective father's wrath, even if she has to handcuff herself to the captain to keep him alive. However, it soon becomes apparent there are much more dangerous things lurking in the dark corners of the universe than a vengeful pirate lord. And she's just landed in the middle of it.

I've given this a B at AAR, so that's 4 stars.

Entropy is book four in Jess Anastasi’s Atrophy series of Sci-Fi romances, and the first thing I’m going to say is that it’s not really a standalone. While each of the books has a self-contained plot and different romantic pairing, there are long-ru... ...more

Qaelen and Camille didn’t rock my boat with their romance, simply meaning I didn’t feel a deep connection; instead it was more of a friends with extra benefits. In hindsight, this wasn’t a bad thing, since I was too entranced by the heavy plot and all the happenings between Rian and Ell... ...more

Initially Entropy has more of the feel of the Blood Hunter/Dark Desires series by Nina Croft (which are awesome BTW), or this author’s own Valiant Knox series than it does the earlier books in the Atrophy series. Then a significant part of the focus switches... ...more

Qae's and Cami's relationship for me took a backseat to the overall storyline and most of all Rian. I thought this book had the most development of Rian's character and the story is definitely becoming more intriguing.

I'd felt book 3 a bit flat and disappointing but this one picked up the pace n... ...more

Qaelen and Camille are more FWB than love's young dream at first, but they slowly grew on me. I think the story was hindered a bit by the heavy influence of the Rian/Ellia arc that is still welding itself together in the background. The whole "entanglement" of the triumvirate thingy totally twist... ...more

Cami just likes to challenge her man:
“This is my bed.” He was pointing out the obvious, but it seemed appropriate.
“And you have a problem with sharing? Didn’t your mama teach you it’s rude not to share?” She drifted closer, laying a light hand against his chest and then sliding it up a little.

It's been a year since Rian Sherron and his crew landed in the Barbary Belt after their ship, the Imojenna, was stolen. Taking jobs for the ruthless pirate lord Rene Blackstone might pass the time and earn them money but everyone is getting restless to get back to stopping the e... ...more

This new entry into the Atrophy series had a different vibe for me. I knew I was reading the series but I had to constantly remind myself yes this is the same series Not exactly sure what the difference was that had me questioning myself, can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe it’s the lack of Im... ...more

This is a completely new series and author for me, as a reader I am always looking for a new series (I prefer them to single releases) to dig my teeth into when the opportunity to receive a comp copy presented itself I jumped on it - I am so glad I took the chance - I will be adding The Atrophy s... ...more

A night in his favourite bar is just what Captain Qaelan Forster needs. A woman enters who brings the whole bar full of pirates go quiet.  He is in no mood to listen when they warn him away from her.
Camille Blackstone is fed up with everyone's attitude around her.  She knows her father is going... ...more

I found myself very quickly drawn back into the Atrophy universe and I think the opening scene sets the stage for this book perfectly; I laughed at Qae’s banter and tensed when Rian was in action.

Captain Qaelan Forster is sarcastic, amusing and personable. He and Camille bring a lightness and nor... ...more

I have followed this series from the first book and looked forward to meeting all the characters again. This time Qaelan Forster gets to have the starring role in the story. It all starts when he brings the wrong woman home (wrong because she has the wrong father). From there he and the entire cr... ...more

About the author

Jess Anastasi

Jess has been making up stories ever since she can remember. Though her messy handwriting made it hard for anyone else to read them, she wasn't deterred and now she gets to make up stories for a living. She loves loud music, a good book on a rainy day, and probably spends too much time watching too many TV shows. Jess lives in regional Victoria, Australia, with her very supportive husband, three daughters, one ball-obsessed border collie, and one cat who thinks he's one of the kids.
