Conspirator. Failure. Murderer.

Seraphina Dovetail is used to being called all these things. As the seventh-born daughter to a witch, and the cause of her mother losing both her powers and her life, Sera has always felt isolated. Until Nikolai Barrington.

The young professor not only took an interest in Sera—he took her into his home, hired her for his moonlighting detective agency, and gave her the one thing she’d always dreamed of: a chance. Under Barrington’s tutelage, Sera can finally take the School of Continuing Magic entrance exam to become an inspector and find her family. Now if only she could stop her growing attraction to her maddening boss—which is about as easy as this fiery elementalist quitting setting things on fire.

But when ghosts start dragging Sera into possessions so deep she can barely escape, and then the souls of lost witches and wizards appear trapped in mirrors, these two opposites will have to work together to uncover a much deeper secret that could destroy the Witchling world…

Mirror Bound was a magical read. It really was. If I hadn’t loved the first book so much this would probably be a five star review, but I think the first book gave me very high expectations. Seventh Born was a 5 star plus for me. I loved every second.

10 stars out of 5. Extraordinary sequel!

It has been absolutely lovely to be back in the magical world of Seraphina Dovetail and Professor Barrington, as well as the magical community in which they live. The story picks up some months after the events of the series opener. It is a pleasure to see... ...more

Received in exchange for a honest review.

This picks up where the first left off. You do need to read the first to understand this one because there are references to the past incidents that you need to know about to help put all happening in this book in context.

Oh my!! This book was so much better than the first where the multitude of mysteries unfolding in the pages had me gasping with joy. The story pulled me from all angles. The chemistry between the lead characters had me wincing with the muted passion that was shown.

Loving this series. Sera and Barrington are both dealing with inner demons. Their work relationship and personal one are starting to merge together. While a lot of the focus was on Sera and her exams the mystery part of it was interesting. I wish there would be more about the background of the ev... ...more

Mirror Bound starts right after Seventhborn ended and I loved going back to Sera and Barrignton.

Mirror Bound is the sequel to Seventh Born, and if I were to compare the sequel to the first book of the series, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as good as the first one. Seventh Born was a fast-paced story, as was Mirror Bound. The difference is Mirror Bound dragged in some parts, while Seventh Born... ...more

I really don’t know how to put into words how much I love and appreciate this series. Sometimes, I guess, you are meant to just feel and leave it at that.
Still, I can’t say nothing at all, so here we go.
I don’t think that I have ever read a love story that intense. Every tiny caress f... ...more

3.75/5 stars.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did Seventh Born. I absolutely loved the first book, so I was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, this just didn't hit me right. A lot of it felt predictable to me, especially the climax near the end. For most of this book I was t...

About the author

Monica Sanz

Monica Sanz has been writing from the moment she could string together a sentence. Her stories have come a long way from mysterious portals opening in the school cafeteria, transporting classmates to distant worlds. A classic by the name Wuthering Heights is responsible for that. She's been lost to dark romances and brooding fictional men ever since. Now she writes about grumpy professors, cursed ringmaster, tortured soul collectors, and the girls they fall in love with. Monica’s books have received many accolades on the social writing website Wattpad. She’s accumulated over six million reads, eighty thousand votes, and fifteen thousand comments since posting her books on the website. She is also a member of the Wattpad4, a group of writers who host weekly Twitter chats on the subjects of writing and publishing.
