Starting over and starting a whole lotta trouble…

Meredith Anderson left her difficult past behind to create a new life for herself in Tall Pines—where she can be the independent, confident woman she always dreamed of being. Now she’s a partner in her sister’s wedding planning business, helping brides realize their happily-ever-afters…even as she promises herself to never fall in love.

Meredith’s sweetness and vulnerability brings out the protective side of rancher Gage Mackenzie—even though their worlds are miles apart. All it takes is one night for desire to take hold of them both, a sizzling encounter that can only lead to the promise of more. But Meredith isn’t looking for more, and even if she was, Gage is set to leave Tall Pines behind him…

"Victoria James has a gift of creating a couple to adore, with a strong, emotive writing style containing humour and with secondary characters who bring a real family feel...Gage is a protector; strong, sexy and gentle, he's a complete sweetheart, but he has his own secrets. I expected emotion, I've read enough of Victoria's books to know I'll get it, but I didn't expect it to be as deep-rooted as it was. I hurt for them, but this was balanced by so many uplifting and romantic moments." ~Nicola, Goodreads review

"This story has emotional blackmail, love, threats, parental blackmail, new families - all in one great story!" ~Elaine B., NetGalley review

"Apparently I have been living under a rock, but now that I've discovered Ms. James I will definitely be checking out her other works!" ~Sarah H., NetGalley review

When Victoria James releases a book the clouds part, the heavens sing and rainbows fill the sky. Well, perhaps that's an exaggeration, but it makes me happy as I know I'm going to find a man to love. This time it's Gage Mackenzie; Cowboy, gent, user of the word Darlin' and yes, I'd happily ride off ...more

Gage and Meredith had their own sizzles from the first page. Their interactions were hilarious with fireworks all their own. Victoria James has written Gage and Meredith well. They both have their fair share of emotional baggage, but they equally stand tall and work their way through it.

I've been waiting for this a long time and Victoria James has a knack of writing Meredith and Gage so sweetly that I'm just about to suffer from a toothache - willingly. Meredith and Gage are simply perfect for each other. I loved this couple.

Victoria James

I always knew I wanted to be a writer and in grade five, I penned my first story, bound it (with staples) and a cardboard cover and did all the illustrations myself (if you've ever seen my drawings you'll know how horrible they must have been. I still draw stick figures). Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again. In high school I fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance. After graduating University with an English Literature degree, I married my own hero, pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened my own business. After the birth of our first child, I knew it was time to fulfill the dream of writing romantic fiction. I'm a hopeless romantic who is living my dream, penning happily-ever-after's for my characters in between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but I'm quite content living in suburbia with my husband, our two young children, and very bad cat.
