"Beautifully flawed characters woven into a brilliant tapestry of the human condition. Utterly unputdownable. Frydman delivers a gut-punching ugly cry with this stunning debut."
- CM McCoy, author of EERIE

Falling for him was not part of the plan...

Audra Madison simply wanted to walk in the shoes of Emily Cavanaugh, a free-spirited teenager who died too young. After all, Audra wasn’t supposed to be here.

Thanks to Emily, Audra has a second chance at life. She’s doing all the things that seemed impossible just two years ago: Go to college. Date. Stargaze in the Rocky Mountains. Maybe get a tattoo. You know, live.

Jake Cavanaugh, a mysterious, brooding photographer, agrees to help chronicle Audra’s newfound experiences. She makes him laugh, one of the only people who can these days. As they delve into each other’s pasts—and secrets—the closer they become.

But she’s guarded and feels like she can’t trust anyone, including herself.

And he’s struggling with the fact that his beloved sister’s heart beats inside her.

"I'm kind of floored by the awesomeness that is Lindsey Frydman's imagination. The Heartbeat Hypothesis is an achingly beautiful story of young love and friendship in a painfully real world -- and it's Frydman's debut novel?!? This is the kind of book you stay up all night to read in one sitting." - Fic Central

"You'll need a few tissues for the ending but all in all it was a great debut novel and I look forward to new books by Ms. Frydman." - Teresa, review

"I loved reading this book. The focus on grief, healing and a chance meeting of two people drawn together by a situation made this worth every bit of attention." - Dora Okeyo, author of I Love You This Much

"A tragic and heartwarming story! The story goes in a direction I did not anticipate and it was refreshing that it was not predictable. Although some tissues were required, I never had a moment when I wanted to stop reading." - Wendy R., review

"Overall, Ms. Frydman has penned a fantastic read in this debut book, which was filled with plenty of emotion that I felt along with the characters, especially the heroine." - Bec, Book Magic - Under a Spell With Every Page

It’s a tough place to be in, glad to be alive but knowing someone else paid the price. Curious and wanting to pay some kind of tribute to the girl whose life was cut short, she sets ou ...more

This was one of those book that bring on all the feelings. I knew from reading the synopsis that I was going to really enjoy it, and by the time I got deep into it I was already hating myself for picking a book I KNEW would make me cry. Which it did.

Jake and Audra have never met, until today, but they're connected at the heart. I know, that doesn't seem to make any sense, but it does. Could you love someone that had your dead sibling's heart in them? I don't think I could, so when I read the blurb for The Heartbeat Hypothesis, I HAD to read it. Lindsey Frydman

About the author

Lindsey Frydman

Lindsey has been writing since she was nine years old, when she discovered the awesomeness that is Harriet the Spy. Her books always include a romance, though sometimes there’s an added sci-fi or magical realism twist. She lives in Columbus, Ohio (where the weather is never quite right). Her BFA in Photography and Graphic Design has granted her a wide assortment of creative knowledge that serves as inspiration (and not much else). When she’s not crafting YA and NA stories, you'll likely find her spending waaay too much time on Pinterest, playing a video game, singing show-tunes, or performing in a burlesque show—because she enjoys giving her introversion a worthy adversary. (Plus, it's the closest to Broadway she’ll ever get.) Lindsey was a proud 2016 Pitch Wars Mentee and thoroughly adores being a part of the wonderful writing community. THE HEARTBEAT HYPOTHESIS is her debut novel.
