Courts, queens, and sexy dragons with wings…
Viola Pierce has never had particularly great luck with guys. That is, until the day she shifts into a glorious, deadly, three-headed dragon. As it turns out, Viola is a dragon Queen. But when she’s abducted by a greedy dragon who wants to breed with her, Viola begins to realize the dragon world is filled with betrayal, deception, intrigue, and danger…
As a rule, Sergei hates Queens, but Viola’s beauty and humanity reach something deep within him. Something he should not be feeling. When she names him her protector and consort–quite by accident–Sergei has no choice but to accept. Now they are bonded for life…with a growing attraction neither of them could have imagined.
But the dragon court is ruthless…and what doesn’t kill Viola will only make her more dangerous.
This book and the preceding The Queen's Wings (Emerging Queens) were exceptional entertainment. It dragged a few times but overall it was funny, passionate, and just a great story.
I hope there will be more of these books because I read them both in less than 36 hours in marathon reading sessions... ...more
What a brilliant combination! This is a paranormal tale packed with danger, mystery, threats and romance, a superbly written delightful novel to escape into and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
In a dystopian world where humans and dragons live and work together, there are only five quee... ...more
Knit yourself into this adorable romance by Jamie Schmidt! Viola, the main character, seems your generic wishywashy romance heroine in the beginning of the book, but what I really appreciated about Schmidt’s story is that almost every character has significant development over the duration of the... ...more

I love this book so much!

The Good: the characters jumped off the page--Viola has a strong voice, but better than that, she's clearly a strong woman. Thrust from being human to shifting into a dragon Queen in a matter of minutes, she struggles with the newness of... ...more
I have totally fallen in love with this series. It's so much fun. It's full of action, and mystery, and suspense, with hawt romance, and some serious creeptastic bad guys. And I am all about jumping aboard this rollercoaster!

Initially, this book got off to a rocky start with me. I loved the first book and was really looking forward to reading this one, but Viola was kind of hapless. However, as the book went on, she grew into her strength and turned into quite a badass in her own way. As for Sergei, he was definitely... ...more
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC but that does not colour my review in any way.
Viola is working late in the office. The dragon shifter, who is her boss is the only other one there. There is a dragon queen, one of only five in existence making the news at some kind of ceremony. Viola only fin... ...more
An ARC from netgalley for an honest review.
I really liked this book. I liked the characters and story. I loved the fact that even though She was newly turned she didn't allow people to walk all over her. She waded into battle when needed and never left anyone behind. She followed her own rules wi... ...more
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
In the world of Emerging Queens, dragons are the celebrities du jour. Humans who shift into dragons are at the top of the heap and, as one would suspect, dragon politics and power plays abound. When a curse is lifted, unlucky in love... ...more
The first book in this new series, The Queen's Wings, I apparently took major exception to the blurb not matching the book. (Those things due tend to aggravate me.) This time, it wasn't an issue, in large part because I didn't bother to read it. I saw the cover, the author and series and grabbed... ...more
This is the second book in The Emerging Queens series, and whilst you can read it as a standalone, I do feel that it would have been better to have read book 1 first.
In this book, a spell preventing female Queens from shifting has been broken, which means that women who thought they were human, h... ...more
I really liked this book. Sergei and Viola were a great dragon couple. Viola has had terrible luck with men. She hates her life and then all of a sudden: BAM -- she shifts into a dragon queen and now every male dragon is interested in her because dragon females are very rare.
They're rare because... ...more
This story was great! I really enjoyed reading and can see myself rereading it in the future. I loved all the characters in this story and enjoyed the story line. What I loved about this book is that it has the perfect blend of romance and suspense. There is a dragon's fire hot chemistry between Viola and Sergei, but theirs is not an easy road for sure. Just so happens that Viola is one of the dragon queens and there's a bad guy that wants to breed her aga... ...more

I really like books with dragons. This one had a very good story line while still keeping it in this day and age. Viola is a strong, smart girl with crappy luck and I totally understand. Sergei sou... ...more
This was definitely a unique story. It took a bit to get into the groove of the world but I found it entertaining. :) It's fun and quirky and the characters seem to be waddling through things they are trying to understand right along with us.
