He has one last chance to deserve the girl of his dreams…
Overachiever River Purcell was never supposed to be a struggling single mom, working double shifts just to make ends meet. Nor was she supposed to be abandoned by her high school sweetheart, breaking her heart into a thousand jagged pieces. Now Vaughn De Matteo is back in town, his sights set on her…and River is in danger of drowning a second time.
No one believed Hook’s resident bad boy was good enough for River. Not even Vaughn himself. But he’ll fight like hell to win back the woman he never stopped loving, to keep the daughter he never expected, and convince himself he’s worth their love in the process—even if he has to rely on their fierce and undeniable sexual chemistry.
But even as River’s body arches under his hungered touch, the demons of the past lurk in the shadows. Waiting for Vaughn to repeat his mistakes one last time…

4 All you need is love Stars
Thrown Down is the 2nd book in the Made in Jersey Series by Tessa Bailey. I didn't read the first book and I had no problem following so this book can be read as a stand alone. I really liked this book. It was a super sweet second chance romance. I loved... ...more
4 Second Chance Stars.
River and Vaughn were completely in love as teenagers, and despite a lot of people seeing Vaughn as a guy from the wrong side of the tracks they kept strong. Until Vaughn realizes he’ll never be good enough for River and decides her best chance is if he leaves. What he doe... ...more
Tessa Bailey is one of my favorite authors due to heroes she writes, and she didn't disappoint me in this one. Vaughn was tortured, hot, dirty talker and just great guy who really loved his woman. I understood his motivations and decisions due to the life he had growing up, not to mention (view spoiler)[ R... (hide spoiler)] ...more

Tessa Bailey is truly one of those gifted writers who can write romance that readers can relate. She writes stories that are raw, flawed, and honest. And that’s why I love the Made In Jersey Series because each book portrays a love story tha... ...more
3.5 stars. What I enjoyed most about this book was the flawed characters. Their emotions were reasonable considering all they'd gone through and the plot wasn't tied up in a neat little bow. I've always respected stories that can do that well. River loved Vaughn deeply and saw him as far more tha... ...more
** Update both (view spoiler)[ celibate during separation! (hide spoiler)]!
This was exactly what I needed! After having so many let downs recently this was such a sweet story that really hit the spot. It was sweet, a tiny bit angsty, and plenty of filthy.

Now this is what i call romance :)
Both did not even move on during separation, they were always thinking about each other, now if this is not true love, i don't know what it is!
I loved to see how much they loved each other.

Thrown Down was a heartwarming second chance love story.
Both River & Vaughn were passion and likable characters who loved hard but needed to learn how to communicate with words and trust their love for each other.
I really enjoyed Thrown Down but there was a couple of things that stop... ...more
Let me start off by saying both are celibate during separation. Essentially, this is a safe story. There are no OW or ex drama.
I had no idea it was so short though, at least it felt that way to me.
For the most part, I liked the story. There may have been a few things that I wish the au... ...more
I liked this book for two factors: The Hero was my type of romantic guy i am looking for in a romance. The alpha, possessive, protective, devoted and loyal. Second both Hero and heroine were celibate during separation, which does occur very rarely in romancelandia. that said, I was not a... ...more

I’ve said it a million times already, but Tessa Bailey truly never disappoints. She’s one of my favorite authors, so to say I was excited for Thrown Down is an understatement. A second chance romance, written by her? Pure heaven for me. This book is the sec... ...more
I'm a sucker for a second chance story! Toss in a child and I'm all over that. The H, Vaughn, had some major insecurities. He struggled with his worth in regards to being with the h. At first it was getting to be a little much for me. He deserted her because he thought she deserved better, not gi... ...more
This is the second story in the Made in Jersey series, and is a second chance romance between River and her ex-high school boyfriend Vaughn. 3.5 Stars - Four years ago, Vaughn De Matteo drove out of town without looking back, away from everything he'd ever wanted or needed. It ripped his heart out, but he knew it was the right thing to do for the love of his life, River Purcell. Vaughn had nothing to offer her, as her father pointed o... ...more
I LOVED this book WAY more then book one of this series. The heroine was a thousand times less annoying and more mature then Jasmine. There also wasn't a lot of pushing away for stupid reasons in this one.

"Forty-nine months and three days." That's how long it's been since Vaughn last saw River. But who's counting? Well, Vaughn is. He left, joining the military, thinking it was better for her that way, but it wasn't until now, thanks to River's brother, Sarge, that Vaughn learned he left the love o... ...more
While reading Thrown Down, I wondered (not for the first time) what it would be like to live inside of Tessa Bailey’s mind. I came to the conclusion (again, not for the first time) that it’s a very dirty place to be. And I love her for it. This book is raw and primal and sensual in a way that mak... ...more
It's been 2 years since I read my first Tessa Bailey's book. Sadly, I got lost in the sea of authors and I didn't come back. BUT I'm here now, and I'm never letting her go again.

I loved this one! It was a fantastic sexy love story and the blurb on this book doesn't do it justice. After reading the blurb I thought I would hate Vaughn but this dirty talking bad boy stole my heart from the very start of this book. We were introduced to these two in the first Made in Jersey novel, Crashed Out. River Purcell is sister to rocker Sarge and best friend to Sarge's love interest Jasmine. Tessa Bailey’s writing is like chocolate mousse. It tastes so good, but a steady diet of it will make you sick. I find her writing eminently readable and have a hard time putting my Kindle down when it’s got a new Bailey book loaded and ready to go. It’s like it’s teasing me. You can’t put... ...more
